Camp Lottabull is now open for visitors!
Our cabin is located about 8 miles northeast of Grand Marais and .3 miles inland, and uphill, from Lake Superior. We never anticipated building a structure so soon (summer, 2005), but we like the area so much that we couldn't wait. We found a relatively inexpensive way to build a small cabin with no plumbing: We have a "portapotty"! We brought electricity brought to the site in the summer of 2006 thanks to help from my retired faculty colleague Greg Greer. When our larger, year-round home is built, this cabin will become our guest cabin. We're looking for an antique chamber pot until that time.
In case you're interested, our cabin was manufactured by Panel Concepts, Mio, Michigan. A big thank you for all the advice and suggestions we got from Sawtooth Lumber.
We would like to share these photos of our construction process. Just click on the links to see different phases of the project. Some pages may take a while to load. Be patient!
