  1. LESSON TEST PROCEDURE
  1. In preparation, complete assigned sections in text and MathMax Multimedia CD. Do all margin, "Try It Yourself" items, and odd numbered exercises until you have mastered each objective. Watch the videos for additional explanations. See the top of the daily schedule for ideas on how to get help.
  2. When you thoroughly understand all assigned objectives you may take the lesson test in the testing room or you may take it on a Math Center computer. All tests must be completed with books closed. You are expected to attempt all problems and show the work to support your answers.
  3. The lesson test must be scored and recorded. Only ONE test will be scored at a time. In no case will a score of zero be recorded. If you get less than 50%, the instructor may keep the test and have you retake it. If you are unable to successfully complete the lesson test on your second attempt, see your assigned instructor.
  4. Lesson test scores will not directly affect your grade, but they are required. All lesson tests must be completed before taking the unit test.
  1. UNIT TEST PROCEDURE
  1. Unit tests have a direct influence on your grade. There are five unit tests for Math 600, they must be taken in order. To prepare, review your lesson tests and the material in the text, then complete the Summary and Review and Chapter Test in the text or the Chapter Review in MathMax.
  2. You may pick up your unit test in the testing room at the computer; be prepared to show your picture I.D. Your record will be checked to see that you have completed all lesson tests before you are given a unit test.
  3. Scratch paper will be provided and must be returned with your unit test. You may not use your own paper.
  4. Unit tests will be graded outside of class; you will be able to find out your score within 3 days. See your assigned instructor to view your graded unit tests.
  5. These tests are designed to take approximately one hour. If you are consistently taking much longer, see your instructor for some help with test taking skills.
  1. ABSENCE POLICY
  1. Each unit test should be taken on or before the scheduled date. You would be wise to plan for expected and unexpected absences by taking each unit test 2 or 3 days before its deadline.
  2. Tests taken within 1 week after the scheduled date are subject to a 5% penalty.
  3. After 1 week a zero will be recorded and you must see your instructor during an office hour to explain. The unit test may still be scheduled at your instructors discretion.
  1. FINAL EXAM
  1. Start preparing three weeks before the exam date by studying your lesson tests, the Review Problems and Review Quiz handouts.
  2. You cannot take the final exam unless there is a score recorded for all unit tests in the course.
  3. It is your responsibility to make arrangements with employers, etc., to take the final exam at the scheduled time. If it is impossible to come at your scheduled final exam time you should see your instructor. You must have a signed permission form to take your Final Exam at any time other than your assigned time. You may be assessed a 10% penalty for not coming at your assigned time.

NOTE: If you are repeating this course from last semester, see your instructor this week.
