Newspaper fills 2005-2006 positions

Two current staff members of The Lions' Roar will return to manage the paper over the 2005-2006 school year.

Jordan Corrigan, a columnist and feature writer, will assume the Editor-in-Chief position for The Lions' Roar. Erik Eliason, who served as the business manager during the spring semester, will return to the same position.

At the staff meeting on April 20, The Lions' Roar staff selected Corrigan as the next Editor-in-Chief. Corrigan said he was looking forward to the challenge of producing a newspaper all NCC students could relate to.

“The paper should appeal to a wide audience,” he said.

Corrigan said he had plans he wanted to implement for the newspaper.

“More pieces students can directly relate to and less frivolous opinion columnists will broaden the paper's appeal,” he said.

As The Lions' Roar business manager, Eliason oversaw the paper's budget, managed existing advertising contracts and solicited new advertisements in the spring 2005 semester. His duties will remain the same for the 2005-2006 school year.

Eliason, who is also Phi Theta Kappa Vice President of Scholarship and NCC Student Senate Vice President-elect, said he enjoys working as the business manager and is looking forward to the fall.

“Working for the Lions' Roar is a great opportunity,” Eliason said. “It has given me experience in advertising and an opportunity to try a field I hadn't worked in. Next year will provide more opportunity to learn and improve the paper.”
