Spring Break Fun
Many NCC students are using their spring break to relax and get more in touch with themselves, and have fun in the sun
By Laura Frey
It’s the time of year filled with blooming flowers, slush filling the streets, glimpses of the sun and dreams of spring break!
Hopeful travelers venture to new places, overachievers stay home and work, students go home to see familiar faces and everyone gets to finally take a deep breath.
According to About.com’s latest “Top 10 Spring Break 2007 Hot Spots” article, there are some new winners in the contest of most popular get-away. Starting with the most popular is the list as follows: Cancun, Rosarito Beach, Acapulco, Panama City Miami, South Padre Island, Negril, North American ski resorts, Nassau, Puerto Vallarta, and Hawaii, Paris and Puerto Rico all equally favored for the final slot.
Those places are all very nice to dream about, but realistically not everyone can jet off to tropical destinations and drop thousands of dollars for a killer tan. A few NCC students share how they plan to spend their upcoming week of freedom.
Jenny Linderholm’s voice turns a little perkier when she talks about her approaching vacation to Florida. She says her plans include, “hanging out with my mom and our friends, relaxing on the beach, possibly going to Disney World and the best part, driving down!”
Not quite as excited, Charlie Timberg plans to get in some extra long work hours. He will be doing customer service work for BlackBox Network Services. When he is not working, Charlie said he will “probably bring out the snowmobiles, now that there’s some actual snow, go bowling, and sit.”
Another sun bound student, Rachel Buros, plans to go to Port Hueneme, California. She explains that, “It’s where I grew up, the beaches are amazing and the weather is by far the part I miss most. I’m going with my boyfriend to visit my family.”
Andrew Wagner asks that people do not become too jealous of his plans for the break. So far, he is going to work at Kozy’s, a new restaurant in the Edina Galleria, and save up money by staying home. If it was not for an unfortunate event, Wagner says, “I would have gone to my house in Venice, Florida, but that recently got flooded when the AC busted.”
Travelers planning to leave the country must bring their passports, even if they are traveling to Mexico or Canada. New legislation has made it mandatory to have a passport when leaving the country by air.
