NCC president is leaving
Dr. Kathi Hiyane-Brown has accepted the president’s job at Whatcom Community College, in Bellingham, Wash. She will leave NCC this summer. Hiyane-Brown became NCC president in July 2004.

Sex offender lives in area
A registered level-three sex offender has been released into the community, Bloomington officials announced Feb. 6.
James Ernest Williams Jr. is not wanted by police and has served his court-imposed sentence. He has a history of sexual contact with juvenile females and is believed to have met his victims in malls.
