The Lions’ Roar was awarded twice at the Minnesota Newspaper Association College Better Newspaper Contest, which took place on Jan. 25.
Recent NCC graduate Barb Teed took home first place in investigative reporting for her piece on the environmental threat to the Minnesota River area in Bloomington.
The judges wrote that it was a “good investigative piece about an important topic.”
Teed won second place in for investigative reporting in last year’s MNA contest.
The newspaper won a second-place prize for headline writing. The former Lion’s Roar editor-in-chief, Richard Johnson, accepted the prize on behalf of the newspaper staff.
