BACKGROUND The mission of the Grant Development Office is to pursue funding that is congruent with the college’s goals and its long-range plans to provide innovative and responsive programming and quality education to its students. Grant development at Normandale Community College will support identified institutional priorities of the college. PROCESS 1. The Grant Development Director will discuss the college's funding priorities with the Executive Director of College Advancement, Vice-Presidents, Deans, and Directors. The Grant Development Director will develop a draft Annual Grant Development Agenda by May 30 of each year. The agenda will be organized in three categories: continuation projects, long-term grants to develop, and department/unit priorities. The President and Vice-Presidents will review and approve a final agenda by June 30. 2. As approved agenda projects are developed during the fiscal year, faculty and/or staff will complete and present the Preliminary Grant Approval form for review. Adjustments may be made to the project based on this review. 3. Opportunities for other grants may arise during the year. Employees with new ideas for grant development may discuss them with the Grant Development Director. The Executive Director of College Advancement and the Grant Development Director will use the Grant Development Decision Matrix to assess these “bubble up” ideas. The President and Vice Presidents will review concepts that meet criteria. 4. All approved grant concepts will be developed following procedures outlined in the Guide to Grant Development. Refer to Information for Proposal Preparation for identification numbers, indirect costs and benefit rates, and boilerplate for the proposal. The final proposal will be reviewed and approved by the Fiscal Director, the Executive Director of College Advancement, and the appropriate Dean and Vice-President prior to signature by the President.
