  • John Nicholas Brown Center Research Fellowship Program
  • McNeil Center for Early American Studiesfor projects focusing on North America and the Caribbean before 1850 and relying on research in Philadelphia-area archives and libraries.
  • Minnesota Humanities Commission has limited funding at this time due to legislative budget cuts. Some grants are available through We the People:
    Project Grants for Programs in American History and Culture
  • American History Association offers a series of prizes for distinguished historical work, which can take the form of an exceptional book in the field, distinguished teaching and mentoring in the classroom, or even film.  AHA members can also apply for these grants: The Albert J. Beveridge Grant for Research in the Western Hemisphere  to support research in the history of the Western hemisphere; individual grants do not exceed $1,000. Application deadline is February 15, annually.
    The Michael Kraus Research Grant in colonial American history offers cash awards of up to $800. Application deadline is February 15, annually.
    The Littleton-Griswold Grant offers grants of up to $1,000 for research in U.S. legal history and the field of law and society. Application deadline is February 15, annually.
    The Bernadotte Schmitt Grants
    support research in the history of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Individual grants will not exceed $1,000. The deadline for application is February 15.
  • Organization of American Historians sponsors the Merle Curti Awardfor books in intellectual or social history categories.
  • Luther I. Replogle Foundation (no website, a Minnesota foundation) funds projects, lectures, and fellowships in classical archaeology.

  • The ADC Foundation: Focus on Education: Mathematics, Science, Technology  focuses on science, math and technology education with grants to organizations whose primary mission impacts K-12 or higher education, for projects where the aim is systemic improvements in the teaching or learning of mathematics and science or enhancements to the "pipeline" for the preparation of students for work in technology-oriented industry. ADC headquarters are in Eden Prairie.
  • Dupont Philanthropy: Education Commitment works with educators and the business community to prepare today's children for tomorrow's world, to bring inquiry-based science programs to communities, to nurture young Americans' interest in science and mathematics professions through national and international competitions, to increase the numbers of underrepresented minorities prepared for careers in science and mathematics, and to safeguard the competence of our teachers of science and mathematics.  No specific deadline.
