The Praxis Series™ Tests for Future Teachers
Two assessment tests are required for teaching licensure in Minnesota.
- Praxis I: Academic Skills Assessments (PPST)
- Praxis II: Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT).
- Praxis II: Subject Assessments and Specialty Area Tests.
Praxis I ® Pre-professional Skills Test (PPST®)
The Praxis I ® Pre-professional Skills Test (PPST®) is required of all students entering any teacher training program in Minnesota. Normandale students should take this test before they transfer to any 4-year institution. This test is usually taken early in your second year of classes before applying to your transfer school. Normandale offers the paper-based version of this test 3 times a year.

The Praxis I test, paper version, will be given at Normandale on November 14. Students must register by October 15 to take that November test.

Praxis II ® Subject Assessments Test (PPST®)
The Praxis II ® Subject Assessment Test (PPST®) is required of all students before they begin student teaching. Students usually take the Praxis II ® test during their last semester of classroom instruction.
