The DeFlores Film Project |
|
Bob's Community Connection Award |
About the ProjectEducation The goal of the DeFlores Film Project is to produce academically researched, theme-focused film compilations for use in classrooms across the nation and beyond. Eventually, partnerships with major film networks and others will provide national and international access to product images in an educational context. Preservation and Conversion One primary task of the DeFlores Film Project is to digitize films in the collection. Film, by its very nature, does not last forever. Many of the films in the archive are in danger of being lost. In order to save them, they need to be captured onto a new medium, one that will extend the lifespan of the history that that Bob DeFlores has so carefully collected. Digitization will make it easier to access and edit various segments for use in the classroom. Oral History Bob's deep knowledge about the film clips he's collected adds interest and a personal touch to the collection. We are capturing his detailed stories and will use them to add historical dimension to the classroom materials. Normandale Community College is interviewing musicians, historians, and others who have interesting stories to tell about the events and performances documented in the DeFlores Film Archive. Cataloging The existing list of accessioned materials will become a comprehensive catalog of selected films. Of prime importance is the ability to catalog into the MARC system with MIC eventuality. |
