Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that targets difficult courses by offering regularly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions facilitated by a peer or professional tutor.

What are the benefits of SI? Participants in the review sessions:

  • earn higher final grades
  • receive fewer grades of D or F
  • receive fewer Ws
  • have higher GPAs

Tell me more:

  • Sessions are held in the Academic Support Center, in the group tutoring room, L2744
  • Meeting times are determined with the students in the course
  • Leaders are professional or peer tutors from the Academic Support Center
  • For Fall semester 2009, we have groups for: BIOL 1141, 1142 and more to be determined.
