The Leadership! Program's Mission

The leadership series at Normandale Community College promotes student learning and development through experiences surrounding lifelong learning, leadership roles and responsibilities, full participation in our diverse community, and educational experiences which will be applied in students' future educational goals and career paths. The program will allow students to develop and enhance their own personal philosophy of leadership in a variety of ways, through growing their own understanding of themselves, others, and a global environment. Collaboration among Normandale constituents and community organizations will enrich the leadership program. Participation will be recognized and celebrated!

Involvement

Involvement is an important piece of building your leadership skills and style. Connecting with the campus, the community and other people will help your interpersonal skills grow, while making authentic personal connections.

Service-Learning and Volunteerism

Service and volunteerism is another integral part of being a leader. Helping others and participating in service activities will not only help you learn- it will also help you discover many amazing things you never though about before.

Cultural Awareness

Becoming a well-rounded person is an important characteristic of a leader. Participating in the arts, traveling, experiencing different cultures and participating in a variety of activities is a great way to become a well-rounded leader.

Leadership Growth

This component will directly provide leadership growth and development for your inner leader. It will work towards providing you with skills, theories and dialogue on how leaders lead and become who they are.

Personal Growth

Developing yourself as a leader means not only understanding how to lead but who you are as a person. What are your values? What do you believe in? This component will help you explore who you are, what you believe in and help you personally grow through a variety of activities.
