H. Catalog Description: A working understanding, application, and role of casinos in the hospitality industry.
II. Purpose
To develop a working understanding of the principles of casino management and operational procedures necessary for state, federal and Native American compliance. (Regulations and legal issues.)
III. Course Objectives The student will:
A. Develop an understanding of the casino industry.
B. Develop an understanding of rules and protection of table games and slots.
C. Develop an understanding, establishing and maintaining standards, and to discuss specifically surveillance, human resources, financial controls, comps and credit.
D. Understand the basics of market strategies for casinos.
E. Be able to forecast sales and expenses for casino operations.
F. Apply management principles effectively for continual improvement in all phases of casino operations.
G. Review the economic impact of casinos.
H. Study the social and cultural impact connected with the development of the gaming industry.
