CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

Instruction and practice in gathering, writing, editing and presenting news for radio and television. The course also covers media ethics and law as they relate to the day-to-day operations of a broadcast stations. Students will also get a general overview of key themes in broadcast history, the structure of the TV and radio industries, and strategies for pursuing a broadcasting career.

COURSE CONTENT AREAS:

Television, radio, recording, programming, ratings, regulation, media impact, and employment, television and radio content presentation and norms, broadcasting history, ethics, law and industrial structure, TV and radio careers.
