BUSN 2200 - Human Resource Management (3 credits)
Offered:  Spring
Prerequisites:  None
Course Description:  An overview of the principles and practices of administering the human resource management functions in modern organizations to the achievement of an organization's objectives.  Topics include: employee selection and retention, training, job evaluation, compensation, health and safety, labor-management relations, communication with diverse workforces, employment law, and outsourcing.

IV. MAJOR CONTENT AREAS (TOPICS)
Human resources management in perspective, meeting human resources requirements, developing effectiveness in human resources, implementing compensation and security, creating a productive work environment, enhancing employee-management relations.

V. LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:
A. Identify the principal elements of a Human Resource program and their importance in managing Human Resource.
 B. Identify the major demographic trends that are influencing Human Resource.
 C. Explain and describe the major laws affecting equal employment opportunity.
 D. Identify the advantages of integrating human resources planning and strategic planning.
 E. Explain the objectives of the personnel selection process.
 F. Discuss the mechanics of each of the major job evaluation system.
 G. List the types of and reasons for implementing incentive plans for employees.
 H. Describe what managers can do to create a safe work environment.
 I. Describe how rewards and awards programs are used to increase the productivity of employees.
 J. Identify the process of establishing disciplinary policies, including the proper implementation of organizational rules.
