BUSN/ATEC 1350:  COMPUTER APPLICATIONS IN ACCOUNTING

II.                   Catalog Description:

BUSN/ATEC 1350  Computer Applications in Accounting 3 CR, FALL, SPR.  How to select accounting software, establish a chart of accounts, enter transactional data, produce and interpret accounting reports.  Emphasis is on small business accounting systems.

 

III.         Recommended Skills:  ATEC 1101 or ACCT 2251

V.         Outcomes:  Upon successful completion of the course, the students should be able to:

A.                  Use accounting software to record basic general ledger operating transactions, adjusting entries, produce end-of-period financial reports, and execute period closing procedures.

B.                  Use accounting software to manage accounts receivables.

C.                  Use accounting software to manage accounts payables.

D.                  Use accounting software to record fixed asset depreciation.

E.                  Use accounting software as a financial analysis tool.

F.                  Be able to more effectively present accounting/financial information.
