Career Development

Where do I start?

What is career development?
Basically career development entails several steps:

  1. Self assessment
  2. Career decision making
  3. Career/Occupational exploration
  4. Job search

We encourage students and community members to come to the Career & Academic Planning Center and take advantage of our resources on self assessment and career exploration. Assessment tools can be accessed  on our computers; i.e. DISCOVER, Minnesota Career Information System, ISEEK, and O*Net. We also offer the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator by appointment.

The Center maintains a library of over 1100 books and 100 videos on occupations. New materials are continually being added so that the latest information on job outlook and salaries is available to our clients.

Carolyn Jobin and Dennis Bergman are available to assist you with utilizing the center and help you with the first steps  in career development. For further assistance, Normandale's career counselors are available to students.
